Yeah, we still hunt....

Amidst all of the construction hubbub, we've still found the time to hunt. With turkey season in full swing, and with hogs always on the 'menu', our hunters have had quite a bit of action during March. Here are some of the shots we've gotten:

Russ Zumbrom got his first hog on March 2nd - it weighed 180 pounds. Nice job!

Mike Kuring, who has just awesome luck, got this 160 pounder the same night, and another 135 pounder the next night!

Rounding out the harvest that night, Brent Peters (one of our builders) got this, his first hog, which weighed 100 pounds.

Then, Bolivia lumber rolled into town:

Fred Garner got this great 180# hog on the evening of March 16th. He went on to get two more hogs during his two day trip. Reed Garner got this 160# hog the same night:

More House Progress

Alright, already! For all of you who have so sweetly asked that I post new pics of our progress:

Here's the first chimney that went up; the back smaller fireplace.

Here's a shot showing both fireplace chimneys. Now for the roof:

This started Tuesday; from the looks of it, they'll be done this afternoon! With the galvanized roof and the housewrap, it's quite a bright structure right now. Can't wait to tone it down with the dark siding.

Raise the Roof!

Construction update: Monday the trusses for high, central portion of the roof were set by crane:

Here's the last truss being set. It's the front gable end of the lodge:

One of our favorite things so far is the framing for the screened porch; we used reclaimed boards from various teardown projects that Jim has completed over the last few years. These rafters will be exposed from the inside of the porch, with metal roofing on the top.
